Top Tips

French cheques sent to Britline to be credited on your account must to be signed on the reverse by the account holder named on the cheque. If the cheque is made payable to Mr and Mrs both account holders need to sign the reverse. Please send the cheque to us by post, accompanied by a paying in slip that you can find in your cheque book.

Before travelling to France think about transferring your money to Britline using BIPS(1). Some local branches of Credit Agricole may only accept cash deposits on to accounts held with them so don’t get caught out and end up walking around with a large amount of cash.

Focus on Legal Protection

What is it? A form of insurance that provides legal assistance and financial protection in the event of a legal dispute.

Who is it for? Anyone with a property in France

Examples of how it could be used

  • You are the owner of a secondary or main residence in France and you have a disagreement with your neighbour about boundary limits between your properties - you cannot come to an agreement about where your boundaries start and end.
  • You buy a second hand car with a 3 month guarantee; 1 week later the garage refuses to honour the guarantee when a fault occurs in the engine.
In these types of cases you can firstly call the Legal Protection experts for advice and if you have a valid case an amicable solution will be sought if possible. If this is not possible and a certain financial loss could arise legal expenses will be covered up to a specific amount.

Online payments, transfers...

Do you ever shop online or need to add a new beneficiary to make transfers via your online banking? These are all simple operations but require a systematic check of your identity.
In order to simplify the checking process for these types of transactions whilst ensuring marketing security SECURIPASS has been created.
